The Company Secretary (CS) is a professional course which is conducted by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). A company secretary is the eyes and ears of the Board of Directors of any company, ensuring the organisation always remains on the right side of the law.

What does a Company Secretary do? In simple words, the main function of a CS is to act as the mediator between the law, the company and the Board of Directors. A CS also gives advice to the Board on how to make use of their duties and responsibilities within the purview of law.

CS is a professional course which mainly focuses on corporate law such as companies act, labour laws, SEBI and other laws which effect a company directly. The course of a Company Secretary is divided into 3 stages:

1.    Foundation Programme (4 papers)

2.    Executive Programme (8 papers)

3.    Professional Programme (9 papers)

The Student who would like to join the Course after passing the Graduation has to undergo 2 stages of the Company Secretaryship i.e. Executive Programme and Professional Programme.
