What Are ACCA Exemptions?
An exemption gives you credit for an ACCA exam based on relevant previous study. Under the current qualification, ACCA can award exemptions from up to nine Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills exams. Strategic Professional exams cannot be exempted.
Level | Papers in the current structure | Exemption scope |
|---|---|---|
Applied Knowledge | BT, MA, FA | Up to three |
Applied Skills | LW, PM, TX, FR, AA, FM | Up to six |
Strategic Professional | SBL, SBR and two option exams | No exemptions |
The paper groups follow ACCA’s current exam listings. Check the paper names in your result, as well as the total.
How to Check Your ACCA Exemptions
Keep your qualification details beside you when using ACCA’s official calculator.
- Search for your institution and select the correct country or region.
- Enter your graduation year, or last year of study if you partly completed the course.
- Choose the exact course shown in the results.
- Read the paper list and any requirements linked to specific modules.
- Keep a copy of the result for your application and study planning.
Can’t find your institution? Try fewer words or search by country. If your course is still missing, ask ACCA for guidance. A missing search result is a reason to investigate, rather than assume an exemption count.
ACCA Exemptions for B.Com, CA, MBA and CMA Applicants
Start with your exact qualification. Two people with similar degree titles can receive different outcomes because ACCA considers the institution, programme, modules and study dates.
Use this checklist to avoid checking the wrong qualification:
Your background | Details to check before relying on a result |
|---|---|
B.Com or B.Com specialisation | Awarding university, course title, completion year and module conditions |
CA Intermediate | The stage and papers completed; do not select a fully qualified CA entry |
Qualified CA | The exact professional-body qualification and relevant completion details |
MBA Finance or M.Com | Your named programme and modules, rather than a generic postgraduate category |
CMA | Specify CMA India through ICMAI or CMA USA through IMA; do not use the names interchangeably |
If you hold more than one qualification, do not add two calculator totals together. Ask ACCA which distinct papers your application covers.
ACCA Exemption Fees: How to Plan the Cost
ACCA normally charges for each exemption awarded. The official fee page checked on 19 September 2026 displayed these standard rates:
Exam level | Displayed fee per exemption |
|---|---|
Applied Knowledge | £86 |
Applied Skills | £114 |
Select your location on ACCA’s fees page and confirm the amount applicable to you before paying. These figures are a budgeting reference, not your final invoice.
For example, if you were awarded three Applied Knowledge exemptions and one Applied Skills exemption, the calculation at these rates would be (3 × £86) + £114 = £372. This is an illustration, not a predicted award for a particular degree.
Your INR payment will depend on the conversion rate and applicable payment charges. For the wider budget, see our ACCA course fees guide.
What Should You Do with Your Result?
Before booking tuition, check that the result refers to your own course and year. Mark each suggested paper as either awaiting verification or awarded by ACCA. Keep those statuses separate in your study plan.
Next, review the knowledge you will need for your remaining papers. If you studied a subject several years ago, test your understanding before deciding to claim the exemption. ACCA recommends its readiness resources for this decision.
Planning studies across 2027? Review ACCA’s transition guidance before fixing a long-term exam schedule. Keep your exemption check and transition plan together.
